Determine what kind of company you work for and if promotion within is practiced. If so determine what the responsibilities and requirements are for the next logical position, those should be available from HR. If your company or government department! If you yearn for a cushy job as a senior network administrator grin consider classes in business administration FIRST.
Some business administration is still required but you need more training in problem solving, systems design and documentation standards.
A writing class is very useful for either branch; you need to be able to communicate effectively. Public speaking is also essential; you could be called on at any time to provide training or discuss proposed new systems to decision makers.
Make no mistake, if you want to advance you NEED to consider this a profession. Vendor certifications are, in old style parlance entry into a trade, which is the entire problem with vendor certs.
For example I learn best by experimentation, reading and writing and get little out of classrooms. I spend a fair amount of time looking at protocols and reading the RFCs; during my writing period I would take an interesting subject to write about as a goal to expand what I know. Finally, get involved in or help create a local network professional association. Peer associations are a distinguishing mark between trade and profession.
Here you can learn from your peers and learn by teaching. Employ some thought and expand on the reasons; you will be more effective in the immediate goal of recommendation and the long term goal of career success. Hope this helps, I need to get back to my own network administration now. I tend to agree with Randy Grein, I have had a similar professional development path and have been asked this question a few times.
My experience is primaryly out side the US and I have worked in a few countries first as a desktop administrator and moved on to designing and implementation of fairly large network. The question to ask yourself is where want to go with your career and what are the requirements for getting there. In most companies the HR department usually have fairly clear path way for being promoted if you already work in that enviroment , certifications are normallly important get ahead.
Certifications are necessary if you want to move ahead in that sort of structured enviroment, becuase it requirement by the organisation along with some business degree, this well get into administration and mid management. If you are actually interested in the field and want develop a profession my prefered goal you can start with some engineering or computer science degree which teach you general problem solving and anslysis and use the certifications to gain specific product knowledge also useful in picking up jobs.
However the base atitude is to love learning and self development, whether through the class room or reading books, I find generally the best engineers love toteach them selves. The specifics of what certification path you should take really depend on what you are good at or what you love. Its highly reputed courses for the core build up in netwroking.

You will get a profile of Network Administrator. Moreover, CCNA is one of the basic level course and the certificate is valid only for 3 years. I would recommended you to do both the certifications.
CCNA Cisco Certified Network Associate is a globally renowned and industry-recognized certification exam that prepares you to design, implement and troubleshoot computer networks. You can choose from a number of MCSE certifications relating to server or desktop infrastructure, business intelligence, private cloud, and so on. When I started in IT I tried to tackle both. I soon realized that I was very good with Exchange and AD.
As I kept working with MS products, my Cisco knowledge dwindled from not using it on a day by day basis. I can still login to a switch and set it up from scratch, but I use alot of "? Ask me to setup AD or Exchange and I'll make your head spin. It just comes natural to me. Like Ratnesh said, they are different career choices and more than likely once your 5 years into your career you will never look back to the one you are the least skilled at.
CCNA ought be straightforward. Cisco does have datacenter and design trajectories, but those are less popular. More important than the actual certification is multi-faceted experience, such as consulting with many corporate clients. I wanted the CCNA and have kept it up, but the owner of the company did not see any real value to it until I left and he lost a couple of clients because I was the only one that could work on them.
I enjoy more of the Cisco stuff, but haven't been in a position to really use it. Look at your market and what you want to do, and use that to guide you. I think if you are going to be a good Cisco design guy, you need to understand the Microsoft stuff and how MS traffic works before you can really get into an optimize network traffic at the CCNA level.
